August 1st, 2008

This is just a quick reminder that the deadline for ADASS XVIII
abstract submission is approaching fast: you have two weeks left.

This is the time to prepare them and get them in. And while you are at
it, you might as well consider registering.

We have solicited proposals for Birds of a Feather sessions, but
realized that we failed to set a deadline. That will be September 1.
The text of the solicitation will be on the web site shortly.

Please note that since the first announcement we have finalized the
plans for an exciting tutorial.

The featured themes for this year's program are:
    * Astronomical algorithms
    * Future large projects
    * Software engineering in astronomy:
    * Enabling Web technologies

Important dates are:

    *August 15, 2008 *: Deadline for abstract submission
    *September 1, 2008 *: Deadline for demo and BoF submission
    *September 15 , 2008 *:  End of early registration

The ADASS 2008 web site (see http://adass.org/) will continue to be
updated regularly to include information about the conference program,
the current list of attendees, and the submitted abstracts. Please
review the calendar of important events and deadlines.

We look forward to seeing you in Quebec City!
