Early Announcement

ADASS XXXII
Astronomical Data Analysis Software and Systems Conference Series

31 October to 4 November, 2022
Virtual Victoria, Canada

We invite you to the 32nd annual conference on Astronomical Data Analysis
Software and Systems (https://adass.org). The conference will be held on
31 October to 4 November 2022, and hosted by the CADC, Victoria and the
University of Toronto.

This annual conference, hosted by a different location each year, is a
forum for astronomers, computer scientists, software engineers, faculty
members and students working in areas related to algorithms, software and
systems for the acquisition, reduction, analysis, and dissemination of
astronomical data.

The ADASS XXXII program will include invited talks, contributed papers,
tutorials, software demonstrations, and special interest ("Birds of a
Feather" or BoF) meetings. These activities aim to stimulate further
development of software and systems to meet the data science challenges of
astronomy.

Registration and abstract submissions are NOT yet open and the website is
under construction.

Based on the current situation, and on the lessons learned in the last two
years, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), with support from the Program
Organizing Committee (POC), has decided that this year's meeting will be
fully virtual. The large proportion of colleagues who are still not
allowed to plan business trips, especially international ones, has been a
strong factor in the decision.

While very disappointing, this decision brings a clear path forward and
allows the LOC to focus on organizing an exciting virtual meeting.

As a recent message to this list stated, the Program Organizing Committee
is asking the community to propose and vote on the themes you would like to
be featured at this year's ADASS. We are using "tricider" to collect your
theme suggestions. We would like to remind you that you can submit ideas
and vote on the ones already submitted at:

     http://www.tricider.com/brainstorming/2amClMVRPTB

You do not need to register to submit suggestions or to vote.

The International Virtual Observatory Alliance (IVOA), who normally meets
just before or just after ADASS at the same or nearby venue, has also
decided on a virtual meeting. Please contact the organization for details.

Best regards,

Kathleen Labrie on behalf of the ADASS POC,
Stephen Gwyn on behalf of the ADASS XXXII LOC.
